I'm Daryl, welcome to my blog!
This is a place for me to share my views and opinions on the things that are happening in the world. Sometimes it will be a detailed examination of important topics... sometimes it will be a borderline unhinged rant about the state of the world. As long as you understand that this is my outlet, that I'm here to share my personal opinion, and that it is not my intention to speak for anyone or any organisation other than myself, we'll get along famously.
If I share a view that differs to your own, feel free to share your opposing view in a comment. However be aware that my sharing an opinion is not an attack on you personally. Also understand that having a different opinion is not hateful. If you make personal attacks in any comment, it will be removed and you will be blocked.
Likewise, if you are offended by anything I share, do feel free to just scroll on. Being offended by things is a normal part of life. None of us have the right to live lives free from offence. It is not my intention to deliberately offend anyone, however I will be writing from my own perspective, understanding and expertise - these may not align with yours.
So who am I?
I'm a husband, father, residential aged care chaplain and a man of proud Wiradjuri and Irish descent. I am both an Anglican priest and a Uniting Church Minister of the Word. I have undergraduate degrees in Religious Studies and theology, a graduate certificate in Clinical and Pastoral Supervision and I have recently completed my Doctor of Ministry focusing on chaplaincy in residential aged care.
I am currently studying human nutrition primarily for my own information and enjoyment, however will be able to register as a Nationally Recognised Nutritionist on completion.
Prior to working in Ministry I have worked in various roles from joining the Navy (where I was injured resulting in chronic pain) to being a grain handler (emptying grain trucks and loading trains), to a barman and a public servant focusing on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education programmes and policy.
So that's a basic intro to me and what this blog is for. I hope you enjoy reading and encourage you to engage.
